The Solent Water Quality Association has been exploring the
various new aspects of the proposed
Revisions to the
Bathing Water Directive and the implications for local authorities, in
particular we have been looking at the move from passive monitoring to active
beach management through various events that we have held.
Beach Management
Event Series.
2005/2006 finds us concentrating on the public information
aspect of the revisions and the need to ensure the public can make an informed
choice of whether to enter the water or not. In conjunction with the
LGA Coastal Special Interest
Group we produced a Bathing Water Directive pack for coastal local
authorities explaining what the potential implications are, signposting where
to go for further information and detailing how to agree a procedure for
dealing with water quality incidents at local beaches. The contents of this
pack are now
available online. Details of other projects can be found on the
current
work programme page.
