Solent Science Conference
|
Introduction
The Solent Forum, in association with the
Southampton
Oceanography Centre, ran an exciting two day conference in September that
reviewed the supply of and demand for science in the Solent. Over 100 delegates
attended on both days, including representatives from the Solents
researchers, planners and managers. The delegates listened to a wide range of
presentations on different scientific topics and discussed how science in the
Solent could be taken forward at a series of lunchtime workshops. The
conference included a series of presentations from expert speakers, poster
sessions, plenary discussions, case studies and interactive workshops.
Conference proceedings will be produced that will provide a permanent record of
the state of scientific knowledge in the Solent as we know it today. Topics
reviewed include:- Coastal Processes Water Quality and Chemistry, Biodiversity
and Conservation and Solent Based Case Studies. In conclusion, the conference
produced a research agenda for the Solent which will, hopefully, influence
science in the Solent into the next century. The Conference Proceedings have
now been published by Elsevier as part of
their series of 'Proceedings in Marine Science'. More details are given on the
Conference
Proceedings page.
