Around the Solent Project Partners

A number of organisations have been on board from the beginning of the Around the Solent (ATS) project and supported the bid for Heritage Lottery funding. They are known as the primary project partners and they guide the project planning process.

They are:

  • AONB Chichester Harbour
  • AONB Isle of Wight
  • Eastleigh Borough Council Arts
  • Fareham Borough Council Leisure
  • Gosport Borough Council Planning
  • Hampshire County Council (HCC) Environment
  • HCC Rights of Way
  • HCC Tourism
  • Havant Borough Council
  • Isle of Wight Council (IOWC) Rights of Way
  • IOWC Countryside Service
  • New Forest District Council Tourism
  • Portsmouth City Council
  • Southampton City Council Leisure and Tourism

The number of stakeholders with an interest in the project continues to grow, the project coordinator maintains a database of all identified stakeholders. Currently it includes representatives of government agencies; local authorities; harbour authorities; parish councils; various community groups; non-government organisations; charities; and private organisations.

To meet the needs of all those with an interest in the project, information and consultation has taken place at different levels and will continue to do so.  In general, project updates are available on this website and published in the Solent Forum's biannual newsletter and Around the Solent Project Update newsletter. The degree to which an individual is involved in the project varies from person to person.

The primary project partners receive regular progress notes as well as the ATS newsletter and online project updates. To date, internal stakeholders have been those who were directly surveyed/contacted by the consultant in Phase I.

During the bid preparation (phase II) it will encompass all those who are involved in project development. External stakeholders are those who keep a watching brief on the project.   They may be from any sector of the Solent community - professional, community group or member of the public.   They will be added to the ATS mailing list and receive the ATS newsletter and online project updates.
