River Hamble
Harbour Authority have spent considerable time and support to the project.
A new waste management leaflet has been designed, with an insert which details
the Hamble's facilities and the Harbour Authority will ensure continuity by
maintaining the equipment.
Other works on the Hamble include a collaborative project involving Marina Development Limited. The aims of this second phase of Safeguard Our Solent are to produce an innovative, cost effective demonstration project to reduce any potential pollution from anti-foul scrapings contained in the waster used for washing hulls. The Future Discussions are now taking place to determine the future of Safeguard Our Solent. Onyx Environmental Trust has indicated that they may be interested in financing a national project with the same aims and objectives to Safeguard Our Solent. Currently the Environment Agency, British Marine Federation (BMF) and UK CEED are drawing together plans and investigating funding sources for a national project that will target other regionally important sailing areas. |
