5.	Membership	Portsmouth Commercial Port is owned by Portsmouth City Council. The Commercial Port Board provides overall direction, reporting to the city's policy and resources committee. The board, which comprises five elected councillors plus two ex-officio members with relevant in-depth private sector experience, works closely with the port's senior management team and is supported by other city council departments, including finance, legal services, planning and engineering.
